Kansas University 's rate for attaining patents ranks 9th among U.S. and Canadian universities, according to the Milken Institute, a California-based think-tank. KU received 0.62 patent for each application filed between 2000-04. That ratio put KU just ahead of Wayne State University , which had a ratio of 0.61.
